Lol as a former NCO in the US Army (Hooah). I can say with all honesty that off color jokes and practical jokes such as funny gifts were quite common.

Edit: I'll never forget in basic training the drill sergeants having guys walk around flapping their arms saying "I'm a f***ing fairy I cant pull back the charging handle" when we were training on the 50 cal. It was hilarious lolol.
