I have not given up hope on Taylor and the Bengals. But I do think Taylor has some work to do to restore some faith that changes are forthcoming. I think Taylor and the FO has to hit some homer runs this draft to recapture the hope.
With that said; What 5 players would recapture the "New-Dey" buzz for you? The Rules are simple, trades are allowed but should be fairly realistic as determined by a reputable "big board" slot prediction.
Bengals draft order:
Round 1, Overall 11
Round 2, Overall 42
Round 3, Overall 72
Round 4, Overall 110
Round 5, Overall 149
Round 6, Overall 183
Round 6, Overall 198 (via Dallas)
Round 6, Overall 210 (Compensatory Selection)
Round 6, Overall 211 (Compensatory Selection)
Round 6, Overall 213 (Compensatory Selection)
Round 7, Overall 223
Using first pick, I went with the following. NOTE: Devin White went #10.
Round 1 Pick 11: Oliver, Ed, DT, Houston (A)-
Absolute freak that got pressure even when teams game planned against him completely (not much around him). Next to Geno, could be a real difference maker on this team.
Round 2 Pick 10: Risner, Dalton, OT/OG, Kansas State (A-)
Big, strong, smart, and good technique. Can push Hart for a starting role at RT and develop in to the long term solution at the right side.
Round 3 Pick 8: Long Jr., David, ILB/OLB, West Virginia (C+)
No idea why this guy was rated a C+, but he is a poor man's (No Mike Brown jokes needed here) Devin Bush. He is a striker that consistently finds the ball and attacks with vigor. Can cover and in the Big 12, had to cover a lot. Excellent change of direction and pursuit. Has nothing to do with being a local guy, but it seems to be working for Hubbard
Round 4 Pick 8: Campbell, Parris, WR, Ohio State (A+)
I really doubt he will be there at this time, but a burner that can do it all at WR.
Round 5 Pick 11: Sample, Drew, TE, Washington (A+)
High character, driven guy that is viewed largely as a blocker, but he can definitely move the chains. Can evolve in to TE2 and proved quality depth behind Eifert and Uzo.
That's my 5.
