I think you're missing the point.
If we could continue to keep Dalton at the rate we are currently paying him, I think many of us would agree that we would keep him. At this point though hes going to be getting PAID when he hits free agency after next year. So, do you want to pay him that money or draft a quarterback who could mimic his production at a fraction of the cost?
If it were me, I would be drafting his replacement this year or next. Many good teams these days are built around a budget quarterback at a rookie contract and using the money saved to enhance other areas of their teams.
I heard a stat somewhere where it was like the top 9 highest paid quarterbacks in the league missed the playoffs this year?
