The problem is he wasn't on their teams so there's no possible way of knowing how he would have been used or if he might have been injured, retired, hiding in the bathroom or made into overnight football god.. 
Kind of like if I had married Jenifer Lawrence last year..I'd be just another depressed old dude wishing I had married someone else most likely..
