Plus they have a qb under his rookie contract and there trying to maximize that window.  Not saying there approach is right just stating Mcvay got a ton of help from the GM early on. Plus he had a veteran former  head coach in Wade Phillips on his staff versus Taylor who has a mostly inexperienced staff.
