Marvin couldn't control things like broken necks, broken jaws, broken personalities, etc. I'm guessing that the "management" told him that he couldn't keep spending good picks on LBs, for them to get destroyed or self-destruct.
All of those guys came over a decade ago aside from Burfict, and all were picked within the top 50 selections of their respective drafts.
And Burfict had Top 50 talent but went undrafted due to on-field character concerns.
My point is the Bengals drafted plenty of other LBs but only had good success with LBs with Top 50 talent. I expected Marvin would have been able to do a better job finding mid-to-late round guys and turning them into solid-or-better starters.
That didn't happen.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.
