Presumably Taylor signed off on retaining Brown...then the coaches also said...Hey let's play a Nickle 2 LB set with Brown and Vigil as our LB's! That will work! Neither Brown nor Vigil would play Nickle on other teams in the league.

Cincinnati gave Preston Brown a 3-year deal worth $16.5M

He's graded (PFF) as the worst defender on the Bengals roster and ranks 83/90 LBs in NFL.
Brown has allowed receptions on 15 of 16 targets for 169 yards and a TD.
Bengals defense has already given up 1,300 rushing yards.
