Look, it's this simple. The line was crossed when Garrett bopped Rudolph in the head. Up until then, the late/unnecessary tackle by Garrett, the helmet twisting by Rudolph, the helmet pulling by Garrett, the charging by Rudolph is just heat of the moment late game rough housing. Really nothing more than penalty and maybe finable stuff.
IDC who hit who late or who yanked on whose helmet, if Garrett simply drops Masons helmet before coming back at him, then we've got 2 guys getting small fines next week and no one cares how it began, who started it, or who's at fault.
But assaulting someone with a weapon is way over the line, as is kicking someone in the head....even though that is a little more understandable given the circumstances.
