Guaranteed money and the salary cap hit are two different animals. Like a signing bonus, for example of $20 million on a four year deal. The $20 million is paid up front in a lump sum and the cap hit is $5 million each year for all four years of the contract.
Plus you can set up guaranteed roster bonuses to spread out the cap hit over the life of the contract. So your point is moot.
