When you're bad at drafting then the above all makes sense. But when you can trade a guy with a few years left for a brand new guy who has lots of years left then it comes down to picking the right brand new guys in the draft. When you keep striking out in the draft, then, well, I guess it's better to keep the guys who have a few years left in the tank.
