Yup, totally the same situation.
The Bengals only played 2 winning teams in the second half of the year, and they lost those games by a combined score of 83-26.
They "improved" because they played worse teams, and still finished the second half of the season 2-6. Even if you want some blind optimism to pace it over an entire year, that's still 4-12... which is still god awful.
...and Eifert didn't play a whole season again. He made 4 starts, became a backup, played well less than half of the snaps, and posted the lowest yards per catch of his career by more than a full yard.
Yes Eifert did play a whole season. 16 games is a whole season last time I checked. Did I say he started every game? Point is he didn’t break the first time he took a hit like so many people here thought he would. And his numbers were obviously not great, but he did have the 2nd most receptions of his career.
