Gio is definitely Mixon insurance, but Williams had already completely bombed in preseason with a 1.3 ypc by that point. The fact that Williams dressed for 10 games and didn't get a single touch on offense is also telling.
They are definitely sweating a new deal for Mixon and a RB in the draft makes sense for them. However, by pumping up Williams, they seem less likely to take one to outsiders.
