Fwiw, Carson Palmer was considered elite (very briefly) and he didn't exactly perform at a high level for an "extended period of time" and he certainly never won a playoff game. Just sayin.
The training, nutrition, medicine, fitness, playbooks and rules evolve. The athlete does not.
