Cutting Dalton would not be stupid. After an active free agency, the Bengals are going to need to have money for their draft class, a Mixon extension (if they are going to try), and any other player they may have interest in.
From spotrac, we have $20m in cap remaining but that doesn't add in Reader and Alexander yet. Our draft class is projected at roughly $11m and change. If the team is truly planning on keeping Kirkpatrick like many outlets have reported, the money is going to have to come from somewhere and cutting Dalton adds over $17m.
I'm a big Dalton fan. It's not like I want to cut him for the sake of getting him out of town. Financially, his contract has to go.
