Why would there even be a discussion about replacing a guy like that?  

Because if you go year by year a 87.3 passer rating is average. 

2014 he was 25th
2013 (the big year every talks about) he was 15th
2012 he was 13th
2011 he was 20th

Does that seem average to you?
