Burrow Callahan ZT question
#6
One of the biggest adjustments for a QB from college to NFL is the way NFL defenses disguise coverage schemes. Joe is not going to step in and immediately know more than Callahan and Taylor.

Plus, as has already been said, They are not completely scrapping the offense. Instead they are just intigarating some stuff from LSU. And the LSU offensive scheme was not some gamechanging unbeatable scheme. It was good enough to get Brady a job in the NFL, but it was not a whole new world.

Whenever an offense struggles some fans complain about the playcalling. But their criticism is usually based on "it does not work" instead of some actual flaw in the scheme. I remember a thread about Bratkowski one time where everyone was complaining about his play calling but some were saying he ran too much and others were saying he abandoned the run too quickly. And fans complained about no creativity until Hue was our OC then they complained that he needed to "get back to basics". Last year, other than a couple of bad calls on short yardage, I don't really think play calling was a major problem last year. Our execution just sucked.

Not saying that coaching does not matter. Just go watch how the Steelers, who came into the game with no running attack, ran all over us with gadget plays that our DC had to clue how to stop. That kind of stuff does not work over the course of a full season when opposing DCS have a week to prepare, but that was a classic example of a team getting "out coached".
