Tons of great players come out of OSU. I would never even try to claim otherwise. They’re a powerhouse. If we wouldn’t have needed a QB I would have been extremely excited about landing Young. He’s going to be a stud in Washington. I was also very high on Okudah. And Sam Hubbard is one of my current favorite Bengals.
I guess I could have included Fields in the poll, but this all stemmed from a discussion in another thread where Murdock said we should draft Lawrence if we end up at #1 again. I was just curious how many others would be down for that, but I figured the trade the pick option would overwhelmingly win, which it has.
As far as being an OSU fan just out of proximity? I’m from Cincinnati so I root for UC. And there’s a bunch of people that probably live closer to OU, Dayton, etc. I think of a lot of people are OSU fans precisely because they’re such a powerhouse though, and they want to root for one of the best teams (hard to blame a Bengals fan for that). But people should understand not everyone in this region does though.
I grew up 33 miles North of Dayton. Used to party in the Ghetto as a youth..lol. I root for the Flyers and UC as well. Hell, I root for Toledo, BG, and the and the Bobcats. But yeah, OSU traditionally gets to play on the bigger stage.
