Hard for the OL to build chemistry when you have so many starters with low ceilings and/or low floors.
The only decent-or-better pass blockers right now are Jonah Williams and Trey Hopkins.
Jordan, Hart, Johnson, and Price have all been bad.
PFF grades after 3 weeks (in order from best pass blocking to worst):
Hopkins - 62.4 (76.7 pass, 56.6 run)
Williams - 66.8 (71.0 pass, 53.0 run)
Hart - 65.5 (57.0 pass, 75.3 run)
Jordan - 54.3 (45.3 pass, 57.5 run)
Johnson - 48.8 (44.4 pass, 55.2 run)
Price - 38.8 (21.4 pass, 57.4 run)
Run blocking clearly is also not good enough, as only 1 OL (Hart) has a 60+ run block rating.
These players may end up somewhat improving by the end of the year, but it's going to still result in another underwhelming season because they have so many bad players early on in the season.
The Bengals failed to bring in enough quality replacements and are paying a price for the faith they had in this group.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.
