Camp fires are not allowed in Canyonlands National Park. When I was camping there we would lay on our backs at night and watch the sky while we were talking. We saw a lot of little "shooting stars" and one time was saw a big one. Not as big as this one, but pretty impressive. I would love to go camping there during the Leonid meteor shower or something like that.
Oh yes ! The stars you see in the middle of the Pacific dwarf 1,000 X anything you can see on land unless you're way, WAY out in the sticks with like no cities for hundreds of miles.
