1) Bates has been in great position for pass and run plays, good reaction being Johnny on the spot, but his short arms really limits his tackling and wrapping up especially vs Cleveland. He really needs to work on his tackling then he will be elite.
2) A lot of elite pass rushers have been lining up over Hart rather than Williams. Elite pass rushers take their chances over RTs rather than LTs these days. Think that's going to explain why Hart's PFF is low pass blocking. I know Jonah wants to be LT, but I think we need to draft a longer armed LT and move Jonah to RT next year.
Just my 2 cents.
Jonah has good RT experience too at Alabama, so that move should be able to work.
There should be quite a few 1st Rd caliber OTs in the next draft.
But also to your point, the pass rushers are going to go where their team thinks they have a better matchup, and right now the easier OT to beat is Hart.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs
Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.
