I think digital media is different.
For example, if I buy a welding code book in pdf format, it can only be viewed on the computer I download it too, and can only be printed 1 time ever. It will have my name and other stuff along the border of each page that would incriminate me were I to photocopy the printout. Even though I paid $400 for it.
