Again, letting someone go a year early is way better than a year late. Look back at Bradshaw. Rumor is that they didn't draft Marino in 1983 because he had a Coke problem. But they also kept Bradshaw around an extra year. Had they moved on from him after the 82 season, they possibly would've been more likely to grab Marino in 83.
