A pocket requires an online.
We are building the team backwards if we take Chase.
Build the line then get weapons then get the QB. The Bengals are following the late year Al Davis strategy while the rest of the division has awesome lines.
Oh, no question. However, it has been widely reported that the Bengals are fixing the line via free agency this offseason. Like, widely. They even acknowledged the need to overpay guys and it has been leaked that the sentiment is that they are done drafting unproven o linemen high to develop and they want proven players at those spots NOW.
^ Assuming the above reports are correct, I would prefer Chase if.... IF they fix the line in the above manner. The reports are that Heart is gone and they want to rebuild the entire right side of the line via FA period BEFORE the draft.
Drafting elite talent at spots where they have proven guys there to produce, like WR, is smart, IMO. Bringing in proven players at critical spots to START is also super smart.
BTW, I am a huge proponent of them investing big into the offense THIS offseason. They NEED to get one of their units up to an elite level and the offense is way closer to that than the defense at this point. Besides, in todays NFL, elite offense typically beats even the elite defensive units. I would rather roll out there with firepower than defense.
