Looking back at past draft classes, 2020 had 4 OTs taken in the top 13 picks, which is the most in the top 13 since 2013 when Eric Fisher, Luke Joeckel, Lane Johnson and D.J. Fluker went in the top 11 picks. But even then, 2020 still had more OTs go in the first round total (6) since 2011, which was a deep OT class, but not as top heavy, as only 1 OT went in the top 13 that year.
The point is 2020 was insanely deep at the top end of the OT class. So how would Sewell, Slater, Darrisaw and Alijah Vera-Tucker, 4 of the top tackles in this draft class and potential first rounders, compare to 2020's class?
If I were to just throw a ranking together, I'd say it would probably be something along the lines of:
1. Penei Sewel 2021 Top 3 talent
2. Tristan Wirfs 2020 Top 5 talent
3. Mekhi Becton 2020 Top 10 talent
4. Jedrick Wills 2020 Top 10 talent
5. Rashawn Slater 2021 Top 10 talent
6. Andrew Thomas 2020 Top 10 talent
7. Christian Darrisaw 2021 Top 15 talent
8. Alijah Vera-Tucker 2021 Top 20 talent
What do you all think?
Are we considering what the 2020 draft class did in the NFL as rookies, or going purely off their prospects prior to draft day?
If the latter, I'd have...
1. Sewell
2. Thomas
3. Wills
4. Wirfs
5. Becton
6. Darrisaw
7. Slater
8. Vera-Tucker
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.
