Fans always claim they are right when they second guess coaches. Fact is that there is no guarantee we get score running the ball. I am guessing that the defense set was what made the Bengals decide to throw the ball.
If we had ran the ball into the teeth of a stacked box three times then some fans would be upset that we did not throw the ball.
