From the Hobson piece on Hardison
Quote:“We have a great defensive line. I embraced it watching my rookie year,” Hardison said. “Every guy has touched me in some way. Mike (Johnson) kind of took me under his wing …. He’s showed me how to stay healthy, how to take care of my body, and how to learn the playbook. Not learn what you do, but why you’re doing it.”
I guess he wasn't lying when he said this:
Quote:“When I crack a joke, I crack a smile and that keeps me going.”
Today I'm TEAM SEWELL. Tomorrow TEAM PITTS. Maybe TEAM CHASE. I can't decide, and glad I don't have to.

BTW...Hardison hasn't taken a snap during the regular season in the 2 years he's been here. Sort of like Jerome Simpson, but for different reasons. Simpson couldn't learn the playbook. Maybe he was too baked.

I think it's mostly because Jerome Simpson wasn't as good as people thought too. He had a 50% or lower catch rate 7 of his 8 seasons.
Also. I think Hardison is a bit overrated. Give me Williams over him.

Not sure about Williams. He saw time late last year and wasn't impressive. Was on the ground nearly every snap he took and didn't really do much when he was able to stay on his feet. I don't think he makes team.

Hardison can kick outside, Williams is 3 technique solely so I'll take Hardison all day. Williams is a preseason hero that is a back of the roster kind of guy. Hardison at least has potential to replace Gillberry as an inside/outside guy.

You only think that because he hasn't really had a chance to show his ability yet.
He was supposed to be a good interior pass rush specialist and is quick for being such a big guy. I think if it came down to him vs Thompson vs Williams, Hardison would be the best pass rusher out of the three.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Who besides Atkins? Hardison could be the interior pass rusher next to Atkins on passing downs.

Jerome Simpson may have not been as good as we thought, and he wasn't.
But he carved his name in Bengals history with the flip into the end zone.
That clip will live forever and will never forget how crazy the stadium went afterward.

Pat Sims time may be up too. He didn't help our run issues at all last season. I think he worked better when he was active every other week in a rotation with Thompson. Held up better.

I wish Hardison would get bigger and stronger and concentrate 100% on DT. He does not need to be dicking around dreaming of being a DE.
MJ wasted the first two seasons of his career dreaming of being an OLB/DE hybrid. He was not good until he got bigger and concentrated 100% on DE..

Hybrid guys that can move inside and out are part of the future of the NFL. We drafted him partially because he has that ability. His issue has been injuries not skill.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and free-agent defensive end Michael Johnson have agreed to a deal, the team announced.
It's a five-year deal worth $43.75 million, sources told ESPN's Josina Anderson.
The deal includes $24 million in guaranteed money, according to sources.

Can't really say he would be the best pass rusher when he's done nothing to show it. Again, I stand by overrated.
He has 7 preseason tackles with 1 sacks.
DeShawn Williams has more sacks, tackles, and passes defended in preseason games the last 2 years.
Also, Williams has gotten playing time in the NFL and has a half sack.

Even if it is a trend that does not mean it works best for every player.
I believe Hardison will be a better player if he concentrates 100% on DT and gets bigger and stronger. And I would rather have a guy who is real good at one position than one who is half good at two positions.

He is a 3 technique, no matter what he does he will always be Atkins back up and see limited time in some passing downs next to Atkins. With dual purpose, he makes him self more available to get on the field in other situations. I am not sure why you believe it is hindering his development. The coaches that see him every day apparently don't think that.

And once they realized he was garbage they released him after one year .
