A very quiet preseason. Bengals fans almost came unglued when we drafted him two years ago in the 4th round. Now? What's your feelings on him? Good? Bad?

Excited about him? Or do we have a dud?

This preseason was Billings' first real football since December 29th, 2015.
He had ups and downs. His potential is still there and at only 22, you have to be optimistic at this point.

Yeah, been awhile and he is coming off of injury. I saw some of that strength in the first game against Tampa where he
was just taking on double teams and moving them, in the Chiefs game he had a bad couple of plays where he let his guy
wash him out just like the Fitzy run in the opener.
He needs to learn how the Guards and Centers are going to play him. He is too strong to man handle so they will try to
guide him out of the play. I think once he learns this he will be a major upgrade over Peko.
Didn't get to watch him against the Colts.
Eaton, yeah very excited about Billings.

He hasn't had a good pre season, I think his lost of reps last year due to the injury has put him behind.
I still think he will be solid up the middle but don't expect much until mid season.

He's missed over a year of football and this is essentially his rookie season. I'm not expecting him to light up the league this year, nor should anyone else. Towards the middle of the season, as long as he can stay healthy, Billings should be making some great impact plays.

Normally take 18 months for people to fully heal from an ACL. Remember Geno wasn't Geno the first year back after his.

He's a 4th Round pick coming who didn't play at all during his rookie year because of a major injury - our expectations shouldn't be that he'll be a dominant starter right away.

I never expected him to be the next great Bengal DT, but I thought he'd be a run stopping upgrade over Peko. He's not there yet, but I'm willing to be patient since he is still young and missed a whole season.
I'd really like to see a goaline D with Sims, Billings and Topou in the middle.

I think hes still getting his legs back under him... Geno was pretty average his first year back from injury...

I knew it wouldn't take long for the "it's technically his rookie season" posts. No, he's a second year player. It takes time to adjust to the speed of the game. The only way to do that is play. Missing his rookie season hurt because he lost out on that valuable playing time. I think he'll be fine. Once he adjusts, he'll be a valuable contributor.

If that happens with Billings people will be calling him a bust on here this year.
Not me of course, but we know the folks round here....
I am with the ones that say by mid season we should start to really see a touch of what this guy can do.

Ive seen some rookie mistakes. But physically he looks more than capable.
I think he and Glasgow have a bright future.

Haven't seen much of Glasgow, really liked him at Michigan as a run stopper and he actually can rush the passer if he has to.

Now, that could be fun to watch: first and goal; second and goal; third and goal; fourth down FG

Replacing Peko will be harder than some think

Lined up next to Geno you would think his job wouldn't be too hard.
Eat up some blockers, let Atkins and Dunlap feast. But yeah that was my hope anyway.

Injuries for young players really seem to hurt their early years unless they're just incredibly talented.
We are starting to see improvement in Ogbuehi after he looked like a legitimate bust last year.
We saw similar career arcs with players like Dre Kirkpatrick and Andre Smith.
Hopefully, Billings improves as the season goes on and then proves to be a force for us in 2018.
