Our last MNF game against the Steelers at PBS...
#1
...was in 2013.

A 20-10 win for the Bengals. We out-rushed the Steelers 127 to 44 that day. Dalton threw for 280 with a TD and no turnovers. Our defense held Pig Ben to a 73.1 passer rating. IMO, this is the type of game we need to see to get a W.

In 29 games against the Steelers under Murv, we've only out-rushed the Steelers 6 times. We're 3-3 in those games. Even more telling is that we're 5-3 against the Steelers when we just hold them to under 100 yards rushing. In those games, Ben has a meager 79.6 passer rating, with 8 TDs and 9 INTs. He relies on that run game being there.

So to sum this up, we're 5-3 against the Steelers when we hold them to under 100 yards rushing, and 3-18 when they rush for over 100. I fully expect the Steelers to come out running early. We usually stuff them the first few times, but they always stick with it, and most of the time we wind up wearing out as the game goes on. We rarely have such a commitment to the run. Just something to keep an eye on.
The training, nutrition, medicine, fitness, playbooks and rules evolve. The athlete does not.

The whole "stop the Steelers run game = victory" thing isn't unique to the Bengals games.

The only two years they finished with a below average running game, they missed the playoffs ('12 & '13).

So basically what I am trying to say is that you combine a good vs scoring defense, and an above average running game, and you're going to win a lot, Ben Roethlisberger or no. Rapistburger is crazy overrated and has never been the key to winning versus the Steelers.

Just like Joe Namath and Terry Bradshaw are by far the worst QBs of their time to get into the HoF, Ben Roethlisberger will join them in due time, due to absurd Steelers bias. The same that somehow got Swann and Bettis in the HoF.
