BREAKING: Marvin leaving at the end of the season; team caught off guard
#81
Caught off guard! Are you freakin kidding me. Seems Mike was at least considering resigning Lewis. Marvin should have been the one caught off guard years ago. I only wish the unhappy assistant coaches and coordinators that go are PA and Paulie, hell fire all of them. There is no reason to carry over any of the stink from this current staff.

So then someone must have facts wrong because if the Bengals players and assistant coaches didn’t know about this, who “leaked” it? It would have had to have been Marvin or someone else in the FO, right?

Sounds more like at least someone knew this was going to happen but Marvin still never told his coaches and players and the info got out.

Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

Most amazing part of this story is Bengal management is caught off guard. This Board has been discussing who the coach is next year for the past two months but management didn't know they would have a new coach? Yikes!!!!!

I think this is spin. ML wasn't coming back next year. He must have known it and everyone else did.

Ps if Assistant Coaches are surprised they were taking advantage of financially they are really dumb. EVERYONE knows MB is cheap. Seriously you signed your contract with the cheapest owner in sports and your upset he didn't change.

Thanks to Marvin, he and Carson were the two big reasons the franchise came out of the dark age of the franchise.

But now with how he is leaving and who is on the roster, this very well could be another dark age for awhile. I for one am not holding my breath that the pasture will be greener now with Marvin gone if the front office is still the same ole same ole.

There was also a report that the news was 'purposely' leaked to the national press, so that the local guys wouldn't get the scoop. A lot of stuff being thrown around right now.

I just got home from Mass and heard the news! Who says prayer doesn't work?

Seriously, I have lots of respect for Marvin Lewis and he had an excellent run here in Cincinnati. He turned the worst franchise in all of professional sports into a consistent playoff competitor in the most competitive division in football and that wasn't easy at all. He'll leave Cincinnati better than he found it and that is the highest compliment I can give.

The slam against Mike Brown not paying his assistant coaches and coordinators is probably true and I'm glad Marvin made this issue public. There's no salary cap for coaches and in the NFL you get what you pay for.

My only request to Mr. Brown would be to let the next Bengal head coach hire his coordinators and position coaches. I'm talking about a total housecleaning of all the coaches, especially the Piano Man.

Ugh the bengals radio is saying keep an eye on Simmons. If we hire from the inside I’m out, I’ve had just about enough of Mike Clown

**UPDATES**

Apparently assistant coaches were unhappy with how they’ve been treated financially

Yeah, there's quite a few suggesting it's going to be Guenther or Simmons. As Shake said earlier, these would be lazy hires. This team needs new blood and a fresh voice, that hasn't been ingrained with this staff over the last 15 years.

He can't be fired after the season.  His contract runs out at the conclusion of the season!

Ugh... Why make an internal hire if the staff is feeling shortchanged by ownership? Better yet, who on this grumbling staff would even take the job?

If they do make an internal hire, I'd be okay with Simmons or urban. I'm not a fan of Guenther... If it's Alexander, I'm out. F*** this team with an iron stick if they choose piano man.

It would be such a Bengal thing to do, though, wouldn't it?

Hey, Merv. if you're leaving, take your shit and go right now. You checked out weeks ago anyway. At least don't make us have to look at you any more.
