Seven rounds.  Eleven picks.

Of course 22 reps, 4.48, and a 40 vert is great, but when you were touted as the best athlete in the draft, it's a little disappointing.

Safeties out of Wisconsin, Arizona, and Illinois St, were faster and stronger.

This was my take as well. For how much certain posters here were raving up James, I expected him to come in at 225 lbs, run a 4.40 or faster 40, and bench 25+ reps. None of that happened. He didn’t “wow” me, but he showed very good athleticism.

Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Believe me; there are picks that would make me sadder than taking James at 12, but there's not many. I was not a fan of how he gave up on his team this year and if you listened to him in interviews before the combine he was braggadocios about how he was going to destroy the combine. Folks such as Griffin, Barkley, and Gesicki made him look pedestrian.

Moving the goalposts eh?  He sure didn't BUST, though, did he? Hardly mediocre.

I'm all on board for this.....OL, OL, OL should be the battle cry.

I didn't rave him up, but he is a good player that can play more than one position.  There are workout warriors, then there are players.

He had a good combine, not a great one......but it was far from a BUST.  Would you agree?

Would like to have him as an option in the 3rd

Jewell was a favorite of mine too. He had a solid Combine except for a very slow 40 time. Was a top 5 performer in 3-cone and 60-yard shuttle.
I can see him going late 2nd now in best-case but still a chance to be available in early Rd 3. I have my doubts he falls to 3rd comp range.

I didn't like that much either.....but then again, I got roasted for saying essentially the same thing about Fournette and McCaffrey last season.

I never said he was a bust. As I stated, he showed very good athleticism. But he didn't "boom" to me. And the reason is because I consider "boom" to be doing (much) better than expected. He performed as I figured he would, but my expectations were different from the hype machines.

It was just one poster making outrageous claims about being 6’4” and running a 4.38. Those of us that actually know James from watching him for the past few seasons knew that wasn’t true.

He pretty much nailed my expectations expect for being an inch shorter than I thought.

Mike Gesicki also clearly boomed. He was a top 5 performer in every Combine drill for TEs. He's easily going in the 2nd round now. Possibly even late 1st.
Mark Andrews disappointed I think, but luckily he has good tape as a pass catcher. Given Andrews is not a good blocker at all combined with his lackluster Combine performance, I can definitely see him falling to the 3rd.

I never said YOU said that..... Smirk .

Yeah.....definitely not a boom.....but he's a solid player.  Like yojimbo said......I think there was only ONE on here who blew him way out of proportion.

Troy Apke was a surprise at safety. Ran a 4.34 with a 41 vertical. He went from non drafted to a day 3 prospect.

Yeah it sucks for us!! Lol I wanted Gesicki in Rd3, but that isn't going to happen!!!  Never was PSU fan but there are a couple of players I wouldn't mind taking, Gesicki and Apke in like the 5th.

He was no bust at all. Just the expectation bar may had been set too high.

Want a OL or LB but would not be to upset if James were selected by Bengals.

Big fan of Jaire Alexander if he falls but was very PO'ed  when he set the bowl game out to get ready for NFL.

Surprised Andrews is that bad of a blocker considering his size. Would definately take him in the 3rd, there is our next
Red Zone threat to replace Eifert. Gesicki like you said will probably now go early 2nd even late 1st and i want a Center with
our 2nd rounder.

Seams like a late round guy like Ethan Kilmer and Fej? I wonder if he could develop into a starter Down the line.

Jessie Bates left the Bengals and that makes me sad!

For all the hype surrounding his workouts, most sites list him as a “combine winner.” The expectations for him were exceedingly high and he still mostly met them
