They said 2025, but there's no quarter or month so I am just assuming it's going to be delayed to 2026. I don't think Rockstar has had a game in modern times where they didn't delay the release .

if its coming out this year which was the last word on it i imagine they announce the details during the one of the events of Summer Game Fest  in June..

But my money is on it slipping till 2026.  what's a few more months anyway...




I just collect games im interest in when cheap  (still occasionally buy a few games day 1) but i always have games to play while i wait for prices to drop

Some companies (not nintendo lol) drop prices pretty quickly  and usually games need a few patches

I don't believe this for a second about HL3.  You would be hard pressed to find a bigger HL fan than me.  I have played both games and all episodes and the demo dozens of time.  Love the story and the dark themes.  

The way they gave us part Ep.2 and then nothing for 18 years except a VR Alyx experience which is more a sim than a game. I'd be shocked if they can even put out a real game again.  Plus Steam making them mega rich, giving them no incentive to delve back into game making.

My sister in law's husband worked at valve, he was fired though I believe. He did The Lab for the HTC Vive headset (the demo that came with it). I haven't spoken to him in a while so I don't know what he's up to, but I always wanted to be a video game developer until he told me what his work life was like lol.

Half life 3 is rumored to be happening every year... lol
id be happy with a Team Fortress 3 though but Valve doesn't do the #3 i dont think

I wouldn't hold my breath for HL3 either, but Valve are still making games. They have a game that's been in playtest for over half a year now called Deadlock. Not really my thing, but it's supposed to have a full release late this year or early next. (Plus they released Counterstrike 2 in 2023, but probably fair if you just want to call that an extensive update.)

Fair enough, but IMO putting out platformers and multi-player updates is not the same as building a world and story around a superior FPS.  I've played RPGs with less complex and worse stories, than Half-Life.

My question is, who is writing the story for HL3?  Will we get answers from episode 2?  Are there even any of the original creative minds that made HL left at Valve?  My feeling is we're much more likely to get another Duke Nukem Forever than a worthy HL successor.
