My thinking is it's his (lack of) coaching too. Although Jacob Burney (DL coach) was new to the staff too in 2016, the starters on the DL have been mostly the same for years minus Billings (who has actually been coming into his own this year). And from what I recall, the issues with the rushing defense have been more with the lack of discipline by the LBs rather than the DL, but maybe someone who has paid more attention to that than I have can shed some light.
