Flacco
(10-27-2015, 07:41 PM)IMurdock2420 Wrote: ??? In what world does he not get enough credit?

The announcers hype him, the sports shows hype him, and he was paid to be one of the top 5 QBs in the league.

He actually gets too much credit. He's a solid QB, and he can win with talent around him, but they paid him like he was Brady or Rodgers, guys who can win with bargain basement players at RB and WR.

He got paid the going price for a QB and has since been passed by QBs with weaker resumes. People are quick to blame him for any of the team's problem. Hell, here he is getting blamed for only being able to produce one game winning late 4th quarter drive (not 2) in his first 5 losses...

Credit for giving his defense the lead in 4 of the first 5 losses and asking Them to just make one stop.

Of course, the only reason they had the lead in 2 of those games is that the defense scored a TD themselves.

Who has he been passed by with a weaker resume? The cap number has increased and the contracts after his are easier on the cap for guys like Newton and Ryan. The Ravens paid him like he was going to be Brady or Rodgers, and he has failed to produce on their level, that is the issue. You can't pay a guy top tier money when he isn't on that top tier. He is good, but he isn't going to do it alone. It was an overpay, and that cap hit is clear when you see them struggling to place skill players around him.

His cap hit in 2016, 2017, and 2018 is actually higher then Aaron Rodgers.

Flacco cap hits: 2016 - 28.55
                        2017 - 31.15
                        2018 - 24.75

Rodgers cap hits: 2016 - 19.25
                           2017 - 20.30
                           2018 - 20.90

The Ravens are paying more, for less, and you think he doesn't get credit???

Yep
Ozzie pays him 24 million more than the great Aaron Rodgers or 8 million a year more and Ravens fans loved (love) his contract.
BTW, it also twice what the Bengals paid AD as Katie and MB got ahead of the contract early versus being late like Ozzie did with Flacco, T. Smith and others.

I am so ready for 2024 season. I love pro football and hoping for a great Bengals year. Regardless, always remember it is a game and entertainment.

And Dalton hasn't ever won even a PLAYOFF game.  Easier to pay him less when he doesn't win when it matters.

My biggest fear is that Dalton turns into Flacco. He has a monster year this season, brings home a Lombardi, gets a huge pay raise, then declines into mediocrity. AKA pulling a Flacco.

Flacco was an unrestricted FA when he got his massive contract.  The Bengals have Dalton under contract for a while.  No need to worry there.  Doubt Andy would cause problems holding out for more money.  The org might give him a bigger contract (maybe) if they see him repeat this next year.

He can't 'pull a flacco' if flacco was never at his level during the regular season.

No worries.

well lets say they win it all this year... there will be a decent turn over in personel next season but if the guys waiting in the wings pan out it wont be too bad.

If your biggest fear involves the Bengals winning the Super Bowl this year, let me sign up for that psyche!

So did Johnny Clipboard struggle enough last night to allow Flacco to claim the 4th best QB in the division this year spot?
