A Reds oddity..
#1
The youngest Reds player to hit a homerun was a pitcher by the name of Pete Schneider. He hit a grand total of 5 HRs, but the odd part is his first was an inside the park HR ..3 of the 5 were inside the park. He also only allowed 16 HRs in his career. He only pitched 6 seasons, 5 with Reds and 1 with the Yankees. He threw 1274 innings with a lifetime ERA of 2.66 between 1914 and 1919..I'm guessing (although I'm not sure) he was included in the infamous trade that sent Christy Mathewson to the Yankees for a stale hotdog..That was the year of the Blacksox scandal when the Reds won the WS..1919.

Chicago sounds rough to the maker of verse, but the one comfort we have is Cincinnati sounds worse. ~Oliver Wendal Holmes Sr.
