This is what I want to hear after the game. Not because I have Mixon in Fantasy Football, I don't. I want to hear it because this O Line with their best Left Tackles out with injuries should still be able to Fire Off The Ball and get a body on somebody and Run Block. We have some fatty's like Andre Smith who were always better at run blocking than pass blocking. The talent level of this O Line is not high, but even they should be able to Fire Off and get a big fat body on somebody to run block.
They can't expect Dalton to pass every play and this O Line will get him injured for season before baseball play-offs if they don't run the ball more. So I'm hoping to hear Mixon had a big game against Buffalo. Mixon is a weapon Bengals are not using so far. He is also not a slow developing sweep runner and our O Line can't run those anyway. Quick Power Runs is the most this O Line can do, but that would be enough. Plays that as soon as ball is snapped Mixon is crashing through the line, Bang, Bang, no weak slow delay runs they can't block.
Getting the most out of Mixon will mean the O Line at least did some run blocking, and these guys getting paid to be in NFL should at least be able to block some basic run plays. GO BENGALS.

Which is why Bengals would have harder time pass blocking. Pass Blocking is athletic of quick feet and these clods for Bengals are not athletic. They are Big, they are Fat, but they are not athletic. Run Blocking is aggressive and pass blocking is more protection passive. Run Blocking you lay on the hits and pass blocking you take the hits. So get after the Buffalo D Line with ball snapped and our Fat Boys putting their bodies into them. The Bengals O Line lack talent but they are as fat as any other O Line. Let them FIRE OFF the snap and hit people in Run Blocking. Trying to throw the ball every play with these Bums will get Dalton killed before October. These Fatty's only need to create a crack here or there to free Mixon to pop though and run to daylight.

What team have you been watching? They couldn’t run the ball against Seattle or the 49ers, this Sunday will be no different. Face it, this team isn’t very good, especially the O-line.

If it makes you feel any better kevin the New York Times picked us to win this week..
Quote:The Zac Taylor experience in Cincinnati has led to the Bengals (0-2) piling up an enormous number of passing yards while struggling to turn those yards into points. They lost a close game in Week 1, then were crushed in Week 2, and while Andy Dalton most likely enjoys averaging 364.5 passing yards a game, he’d probably like to win a game at some point. That will be hard in Buffalo against the upstart Bills (2-0). If Bills running back Devin Singletary is forced to miss the game with a hamstring injury, this game gets far more competitive. Pick: Bengals +6
More importantly they picked Pittsburgh to lose to the 49ers.. We will likely have to compete with Miami and Pitt for the first overall pick next season.. Charming, eh?

It's looking like we could go all year without an RB topping 100 yards on the ground in a game.

... and that's including a game where Mixon has a 90 yard busted play TD run.

I mean, it's likely considering the Bengals are currently on pace to not rush for 100 yards on the YEAR until Week 4.
29.5 rushing yards per game at 1.8 yards per carry.
That is some all-time level futility right there.

Taking a team +6 isn't exactly a ringing endorsement you think they'll win, but it's a step in the right direction.

I'm gonna venture to say Mixon doesn't get over 30 yards.

Rushing numbers are very hard to predict in the NFL from game to game
But until the oline can stop with influcting penalties and learning to block at the 2nd level
Mixon will struggle or any back for that matter

Let's not forget our top 2 backs essentially sat out the preseason, so it doesn't shock me to see them having sub-par results thus far.
There was some pretty attrocious QB play week 1 from the guys who didn't participate in the preseason. People forget the rust has to come off. If the run game isn't clicking, that means the rushing attempts drop and will take more time for the backs to get back up to speed.
Having said that, we saw some positives out of Joe last week, so who is to say he can't be full speed by game's end and have success this week?

The Bills will play 5 DB's all game because our OL is so bad that the running game will be non-existent so they'll just sit back and make Dalton's life hell in the passing game. We will need some turnovers to win this game.

Again, with both top Left Tackles Williams and Glenn injured the odds of good pass blocking are slim and none.
So Focus more on smash mouth run plays that even Pee Wee teams have. Power right or left of Center. Power right or left of Guards. Power right or left of Tackles. Pound The Rock.
Plus the Players Union really limits practice in pads and force pussyfoot practices in shorts and no pads like touch football. So in the games in full uniforms and full pads catch up on the power football running plays and the heck with the players union and pussyfoot football. Get theses 300 pound dudes firing off hitting the line in September making up for lost time in no pads in practices.
If all this team does is pass, they will get quarterbacks killed. They have to start doing more running plays. They have to get Mixon and Bernard into these games. Get these 300 pound fat guys run blocking and earning their paychecks. It will help protect the QB and Bengals need to start getting some rushing yards. Pound The Rock.
Again, with the 1st string and 2nd string Left Tackles out and injured, that blind side pass blocking is a huge problem. So do more run blocking. I'll add look at all the NFL QB's injured after only week 2, and I say the players union no pad practices is causing more injuries, not stopping them. So get out there and run the ball more and with all these NFL QB's getting injured, protect our QB. Now a RB should be able to hit the line and be tough, or he isn't much of a RB. Pound The Rock on Buffalo.

I fear it's Turners scheme. Or our RB Coach. Maybe Turner is a better pass blocking OL Coach? Williams did lead the SEC in rushing, but his lines have always been finesse. Have we seen any pulls? The rb coach didn't really develop any talent in Oakland and Indy (old man Gore can run anywhere). So he's unknown as we begin to get to know these coaches and look for improvements in their position groups. Turner doesn't have the talent so you don't know if better Guards (and Tackles) would help, but the inability to run with deep threats and legit targets at receiver is one of mysteries of the season.
Not that we should have expected a significant upgrade in our run game, but to fall off from what we built late last season is a disappointment.
Do we miss Boling, Redmond, and Glenn that much? The oline is a mess, and we should have hired run game and pass game coordinators like other teams who opted out of having a OC when the HC called plays. Maybe then the run game would get equal focus and expertise.

Boling-Price-Redmond. They made a difference. I also think the new RB coach may be doing something different. Maybe Turner as well. Price will be playing LG against Bills, lets see if Bengals run more to the left this week. Running between the tackles, however, has not looked good. And when there is a good run, somebody has a penalty.
