Lack of "Surge" When Run Blocking
#21
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vUl9rDfQQY

Watch the Oline on run plays in this game. Watch them fire out of their stance on runs moving the Dline backwards. Watch the drive after the Fulcher int. with like 8 minutes to go. When was the last time you saw a Bengals team close out a game running the ball ?

Surge, push, space ? Whatever you wanna call it our current Oline doesn't get it, and haven't for years.

Bengals football BMB  :andy:  Real Oline  :andy: and a lot of them were mid to late round picks !

I fell sorry for the youngins that don't remember football BMB.

Ickey Shuffles at 34 minutes and 1 hour 56 minutes

This falls on the lack of tenacity from the oline itself and just bad coaching. Any good oline has to.collectively as one have the same
Desire and intensity to simply destroy what's lined up.across
From them.
I think the college Game has softened olineman overall.
With the spread offenses and RPO designs driving a guy 5 yards back isn't so essential anymore
The traits that a olinemen needs is technique and tenacity
Only one lineman carries that and that's Hopkins
And back to the coach. Jim.Turner sucks plain and simple.
The proof is on Sundays.
If Jim McNally was the oline coach now with this group
It would be a huge difference. He was all about technique
And footwork and lineman being in concert

This is a big part of the problem, IMHO
