not sure this is the right player given his couple down years...could just be rumor.

I just don’t like spending 15 Mil a year on a player coming off of an injury season. Galvis makes a third of that, is Didi gonna be 3 times better than Galvis? Galvis is a solid defender that hits homeruns but doesn’t get on base a lot. Didi was the same player as Galvis last year. I just like picking up more of a sure thing for that kinda money. You shouldn’t have to gamble that the replacement player is gonna do better if you’re paying 3 times more.

If he can hit for power like he did a couple years ago maybe

That’s the problem, you had to start your sentence with if. Galvis will probably hit 20-25 Homers and play pretty good defensively. Didi hit .238 last year and .268 the year before. Galvis hit .267 and .260 the year before. Didi’s career high in HRs is 27 while Galvis has hit 23 each of the last 2 years. Didi has a better career OBP by about 13 points but had a really bad year last year. I just don’t see leaps and bounds improvement with the signing. Yankee players always get press and hype.

Agree

I just don't see him being that much better to warrant that much money.

I don't like it either TBH. I would rather have Betts, Castenlanos, or a corner OF player.

I'd much rather add a solid BP arm than gamble on a recently injured SS. Reds 40 man roster is now @ 38 with 2 spots open and the rule 5 draft on Thursday..

Maybe there will be some rebuilding teams that are looking to salary dump some good players this week in a reasonable trade.

If they sign Didi, look for Galvis to be ammo in a trade for a bullpen arm or a 5th starter.
Only users lose drugs.

He reached an agreement with the Phillies.

I think it is a good thing he didn't sign.  I think there is a chance the Reds trade for Marte.  He would be awesome.
