Hof - best players or a popularity contest.

Just being on the Steelers team of the 70's almost guarantees the HOF. The Steelers site is already beating the drum for Greenwood to be the next player inducted.

Munoz is the only no brainier. After him, there's a few borderline guys. Riley has the numbers, but I don't recall anyone ever considering him to be one of the elite at his position. Isaac Curtis probably was among the elite, but was overshadowed, and played in the deadball era of unimpressive passing stats. Ken Anderson will make it eventually, but even he is borderline.

Dillon was an elite level player but played on awful teams with awful O-Lines so doesn't have the stats. Chad was elite for a while but didn't sustain it long enough. Same with AJ Green and Geno Atkins. Both were on HOF paces for a while, but have slipped too much in recent years.

Willie Anderson is probably the most HOF worthy bengal ever after Munoz. Absolutely dominant in his era and sustained it for a long time. RTs don't get the respect though, for some stupid reason.

Bengals have a long history of passing on special HOF level talents in the draft to pick lesser players at the same position.

AJ may get caught up in the never ending back log of WR waiting for enshrinement but Geno Atkins WILL be in the HOF.  So will Andrew Whitworth.  Whit's biggest problem is that he was at his best at a time that the best in the NFL at his position (Joe Thomas) was in the same  division so for much of his career he didn't get the notice he otherwise would have

It is to a certain extent.

However, 1 thing I wished MB would do is PROMOTE those players to the HOF Committee.
At least that is my understanding, other teams promote via videos, flyers etc and MB doesn't.

I could see Whit making it in. He was arguably the 2nd best LT in the league for a number of years. 4x Pro Bowler (should have been way more) 2x All Pro. If the Rams had won that SB last year it would have helped, but I feel like rings matter more for QB’s than they do OL players as far as the HoF goes.
