We were told earlier tonight OT Trent Williams #Redskins trade was being discussed with #Bengals and #Browns

Usually don't pay attention to accounts like this but this is the same account that broke the Trae Waynes news before the national media did and reported they were in on Schobert. According to their interactions they've been spot on with most of their predictions and rumors. Their pinned tweet is about Gurley going to Atlanta before anyone knew they were an option.
I figured it’d make good discussion.

This account has also reported the last few days of the Bengals being in talks with
Kevin Beachman
Cameron Wake
Alec Olgetree
Reshad Jones
Antione Bethea
Also said the Bengals could be in play for Jason Peters

Seeing a lot of buzz about the Browns, but it would be huge if we could pull it off.

What kind of compensation would you guys be looking at? A second or third rounder?
Are you guys okay with giving them our second round pick for a soon to be 32 year old Pro Bowl caliber tackle?

Could they have kicked the tires? Yes. But I'm sure they walked off the lot when they heard he wants to renegotiate his contract.

The Redskins just traded their best CB (Quinton Dunbar) for a 5th round pick and traded a 5th round pick for a backup QB (Kyle Allen).
Williams isn't Rivera's guy. So I think the price has come down.
I'd trade Dre and a 5th for Williams and their 7th.
They are moving on from a headache, upgrading at CB where they need some vet help, moving up in the draft, and shedding some salary (my quick math says dre is cheaper than trent so they are spending less money).
We give up CB depth and move way back in the draft for a huge gamble on a guy who didn't even play last year but is immensely talented.
Big risk move that could pay huge dividends for one of our areas of need that could use the most improvement.
I'd be all about this.

I'd be good with bringing him in, but more so to keep him off the Browns.

Or more so to keep the Browns off Burrow.

Wonder what the play would be here. What would they have to give up for him? And if they ended up with him, where would he play?
They just got rid of one aging malcontent formerly good LT.

Let's assume for the sake of argument that this is true. Am I wrong in thinking that every report like this points to having to shed salary? And whose salary would that have to be?

Glenn was never in the same ballpark as Williams in terms of talent.

Dalton and Kirkpatrick. 26 million off the cap instantly. I wouldn't be surprised if a trade for Williams included one of them.

Yea, I think Dalton would have to go to Washington, but that probably ended yesterday when the Redskins acquired the Carolina QB.

I’d be all for that trade, or even just a 4th round pick, but I imagine shedding some salary would be necessary.

The value of a 31 year old tackle on the last year of his deal who hasn't played in a year and who failed a physical during the 2019 season due to head soreness...
That's a toughie.
I'd give up a 4th or 5th rounder for him. But no more than that.

No, but he can match him for malcontentedness(if that's even a word) all day long.

I won't argue that. But don't you think players gonna play no matter what? Don't they get out all their frustrations come Sunday?

Yep. Dan Snyder is not only a bad owner, but by all accounts he’s also a POS. Not sure exactly what all went down with Williams’ cancer and everything, but I doubt it’s just about money.
