Playing in London

I thought I saw where mike brown had the lease changed a while back, I would imagine it's so the bengals could play over there at some point.  

Fans down here aren't crazy about it but there are more and more trips of fans that actually go to London especially if it's supposed to be a home game here.

I believe under terms of the new lease the Bengals are a candidate for a "home" game or 2 before 2020.

Yeah I thought so . I think part of the deal of going is your commit to 2 times. Home and away. Will be interesting to see if it happens .

There was so much hype around them coming into the season.  I totally fell for it.  They are a mess.  Their coach ran the loosest ship in the NFL (between the Incognito thing & and the stories coming out right now).  Tannehill is a dud in my opinion.  I'm ashamed of myself for drafting him in my fantasy league (at least I've never used him). 

As much as I hate the idea...  I'd totally be up for going to London for the Bengals.  It's a great city, and I'd love to see an event at Wembley Stadium.

Philbin needed guys who got after guys in the locker room. When that bs bully scandal he lost his enforcers . They should have cut Martin and left it all alone. Suh would have been different as well. He needs strong people around him. pelini and schwarz were strong leaders.

First post on here and, as I'm British, I couldn't resist this thread.

I'd agree with most of what's been said above. The International Series has been a success but I reckon that the level we're at right now (three games/season) is perfect. I'm not convinced a London franchise would work, either logistically or from a popularity standpoint. The London games are still a bit of a novelty for some - a day out - and I don't know if fans here would swap their 'adopted' US-based team for a London one or turn up regularly in the numbers needed to make it work financially. I can also sympathise with fans of any team who suddenly find a game transported several thousand miles away across the Atlantic.

For those looking at coming over, some of the games from 2018 won't be at Wembley. The NFL have an agreement to play two ganes a year from then at the, as yet unbuilt, Tottenham Hotspur soccer stadium. Still in London but not as iconic as Wembley. It was also announced yesterday that the International Series is set to continue to at least 2025 but the suggestion was that other countries would be introduced as well.

I'm still hoping that the Bengals get a game over here soon; I'm at the Bills/Jags game in a couple of weeks which seems to be a slightly better match-up now than when I bought the tickets last year. There's a fair number of Bengals shirts on show at the Wembley games and it'd be good to get some of you over to England.

Just a question how big is American Football over there in Europe?

Not huge by any means and it varies from country to country with the UK, Germany, Spain and the Netherlands showing more interest (there were NFL Europe teams in those countries up until 2007).

In the UK, the NFL has been televised for thirty years or so now, starting with highlights packages in the 1980s (when I got hooked) and moving on to what we have now which is usually four/five live games a week. Yeah if the bengals get a game I would certainly find a way to get over there.

Ah, Fox News has a lot to answer for! I live in Birmingham, it's a fine city.

a lot like the bucs last year they spent big.... and it filled the seats. but thats about it.

Thanks for the response. It's kinda sucks that the sport isn't growing at high rate like Basketball and Hockey are in Europe ( not so much in UK). The only info  I really can get about the growth of the sport is from IFAF and their very slanted.
