My hope is that Burrow has the ear of ownership and gets a wide berth in voicing his views of what needs to be changed. He's already looking like a franchise savior even as he gets his brains beaten out every week.

Not a bad idea, the Brady part, doubt Zim is leaving Minnesota so soon. Brady at least has had success as a coordinator, ZT was never even a good coordinator. Terrible with the Dolphins, terrible with the Bearcats.

This is very true. I remember in 03 it came down to Marvin, Coughlin, and Mike Mularkey as the Bengals choices. Mike wanted Coughlin, but Coughlin wanted some power and Mike didn't like that. He was looking at Mularkey as his backup. Katie and Troy pushed for Marvin and convinced Mike to go with him.


This past time around, it was Troy, Katie, and Duke heading up the search. I think Mike would've signed off on anyone they presented to him. A lot of the media members noted that Mike really wanted Hue, but he knew that would basically kill off the fan base so there was no chance at hiring him. Dehner mentioned that the front office was sold on the current roster and thought that they only needed new coaches, which lead to the inactive free agency. There are some rumors that Zac was sold on not changing the roster much which made him popular to the search committee.

Dave Shula put this guy to shame. Shula did more with less at the beginning of the Mike Brown era where Mikey boy was as stingy as a 5 year old child.

I would lay all the blame there as well. Interesting anecdote...well I think it is interesting since it is mine...but it has to do with Katie as well as the hiring of Zac Taylor. As an example, he then tells me the story of one year working the draft combine. He tells me, "It's long boring days for the team doctors, and one of his colleagues went back to the hotel at the end of the day and dialed up a movie in his room...Not a porn movie, just a movie. Well a month later, this guy gets a bill from Katie for $6.99 or whatever the movie cost. Dude quit right then."

That convinced me that nothing is going to change until the team is sold to another owner. I really hope I am wrong and the spending this offseason is an indication of future dealings, but as he said, they hired the cheapest candidate and the cycle continues. I was as excited to see Burrow this year as I have been in any year which goes back to the Super Bowl years, but the way they blew off the line and then seeing how poorly they have played so far makes me think his talents will go to waste unless they decide to spend money on the staff and players he needs to support winning. 

All of this sounds plausible.

I know some Vikings fans, and none of them want Zimmer out.  They blame the Cousins deal for their problems.  I wonder if their management shares that sentiment.
