History of Bengals v. Bills
#1
Bills lead series 15-13. 9-4 at home.

Bengals have won the last two games. In 2011 the Bengals broke a ten game losing streak and beat the Bills for the first time since the 1988 AFC Championship Game.

11-30-69.....Epicly bad game where Bengals only complete 2 passes and fumble 7 times. Bills only have 184 total offense, but win 16-13.

11-8-70......Key game in Bengal history. In their third year of existence the Bengals start the season 1-6. Playing their third straight road game (and 5th of first 8) the Bengals offense can only muster 1 td. But Lemar Parrish returns a kick off 95 yards and a blocked kick 83 yards and Horst Mulhmann adds 5 FGs as the Bengals blow out the Bills 43-14. This victory starts a 7 game winning streak that gets the Bengals their first Division Championship and playoff appearance.

11-11-73....First time both teams played when they ended with winning records. Bills came into the game 5-3. Bengals were at 4-4. Again the Bengals were playing their third straight road game (and 6th of first 9). Boobie Clark rushed for 98 yards and the Bengals only td. Isaac Curtis catches 5 passes for 94 yards. But the star is the Bengal Defense who holds the Bills to 180 total yards. Bengals win starts a 6 game winning streak that gets the Bengals their 2nd Division Championship and playoff appearance. Bills finish 9-5 but miss playoffs.

11-9-75.....(Monday Night) One of my first really clear memories of watching the Bengals. We were 7-1. Bills were 5-3. They had made the playoffs the previous year. This was a big game. O.J. Simpson went off for the Bills (17 carries for 197 yards and 2 tds, plus 21 receiving yards), but Ken Anderson went off even bigger (30-46, 447 yds, 2 tds, 0 int). Curtis catches 7 for 139. Bengals win 22-24. Bengals finish 11-3, Bills 9-5. Both make the playoffs

10-22-78...... Another horrible game between horrible teams. Only interesting because of the final score. The 5-11 Bills defeat the 4-12 Bengals 5-0.

11-27-81......Bills are coming off 11=5 playoff season and come into the game 2-1. The Bengals are also 2-1, but they are coming off a 6 win season and it had been 4 years since their last winning season. Bengals trail 21-10 in the fourth quarter, but come back to win 27-24 in overtime. Ken Anderson completes passes to 10 different players in another epic game (28-40, 328 yds, 3 td, 0 int). Bengals go on to finsh 12-4. Bills finish 10-6 and win a wildcard game to get to. . . . .

1-3-82.....Bengals ride a power running game to an early 14-0 lead and hold on for a hard fought 28-21 victory. Anderson only throws the ball 21 times and is sacked 4 times. But Charles Alexander and Pete Johnson combine for 34 touches, 150 yards, and 3 tds.

11-27-88.....(my birthday) I remember this game also. Bills were 11-1. Bengals 9-3. It was a huge game. Icky Woods (129 rush, 38 receiving, 3 tds) and James Brooks (93 rush, 21 rec, 2 tds) dominate. Bengals jump out to 21-0 lead on the way to a 35-21 win. It ends up being one of the biggest wins of the year because both teams finish 12-4. Tis gets the Bengals home filed advantage when they meat again. . .

1-8-89.....'88 AFC Championship Game. Both teams were 13-4. Boomer Esiason was struggling with the injury he suffered against San Diego in the regular season, and Bruce Smith sacked him a couple of times in the first half. Bengals only generate 74 passing yards, but Icky Woods (29 carries, 102 yards, 2 tds) and a brutal defense (only 181 yards allowed ) carries the Bengals to a 21-10 victory and their second Super Bowl.

11-21-10......One of the worst Bengal games of the last decade. Bills had the #28 offense in the league that year, but they rolled up 449 yards and outscored the Bengals 35-0 in the second half. Bills QB Ryan Fitzpatrick has career games (316 yards, 5 tds) against former team in 49-31 victory.

10-2-11.....This was the first significant victory of the Andy Dalton era. We came into this game 1-2 with our only victory against the Browns. And most experts were surprised we were not 0-3. The Bills were 3-0 and coming off an upset of the Patriots. They were getting a lot of hype as the surprise team of the year. The Bills lead 17-3 at halftime. Dalton threw a td to Gresham in the third quarter and then ran for a td with 4 minutes left in the 4th quarter to tie the game 20-20. Nugent won it with a 43 yarder in overtime. This win started a 5 game winning streak that transformed the Bengals from a team perceived to be among the worst in the league to the playoff team it has been for four straight years.
