I've always said theres 3 people you need in place that do
Their roles well in order to be a playoff contender year in
Year out. GM, HEAD COACH, AND FRANCHISE QB.
Look at any franchise that is always in the playoff conversation.
Ravens Steelers Chiefs Seahawks etc.
The Bengals have one of three in place.
Any chance this franchise has of having success it has to replace
Duke Tobin. Ive seen better GMs with better resumes
Get replaced. If the Brown Family wants to show its doing
Things different it can start by firing Tobin.
Hes the GM.
I'd love to see his apologists try to defend his overall body
Of work.
Does anyone in the Cincinnati Media feel the same way?
You never hear about him.on the hot seat.

I agree, he's had some horrible drafts since 2011. This year and last look good right now, but from 2011 to 2019 are bad, at best.

Last I checked Mike still pays himself a GM salary, and Katie/Troy have personnel decision power as well. Doesn’t matter if you bring Belichick in tomserve as Tobin’s role as long as those three losers are still in the front office. Seeing as how they own the team, Mike, Katie , and Troy will continue to insert their football “minds” into personnel decisions.
Through 2023
Mike Brown’s Owner/GM record: 32 years 223-303-4 .419 winning pct.
Playoff Record: 5-9, .357 winning pct.
Zac Taylor coaching record, reg. season: 37-44-1. .455 winning pct.
Playoff Record: 5-2, .714 winning pct.

It's not so much the drafts as it is he has had been really lazy and poor in free agency. We haven't come close to recovering from the 2016 and 2017 off seasons.

He's had some good ones too. And, I think many of the bad ones, we were stoked about. So......

Because he is basically adopted by The Family, who are a bunch of, well nevermind this part just in case.

I think you misread that....I was calling that his last good draft until last season and this one. Jury out on Jonah, Sample and Pratt contributing....this year looks like a REAL good draft thus far. Between 2011 and now? Og/Fish, Ross, Billy Price, etc, etc.

Gotcha. I thought you were including 2011 in the group.

The Brown family isn't doing much of anything different and I say that simply because they continue to run the day-to-day operations of the team. This team will not change until anyone affected by Mike Brown thinking is no longer managing the team.
Tobin is here despite the poor draft history. Just look at the number of wasted 1st and 2nd round picks over the past 20 years.
Sure they've hit pay dirt on some players like AJ, Atkins, Dunlap, Whitworth and Boling, but all of those players have now aged their replacements just haven't made the cut. Ross is useless. Look at the huge number of DTs selected in rounds 2-4 over the past 10 years, none of them came close to be quality starting caliber and many just never even made backup caliber. Same for the OL. Maybe Jonah will be the next good OLman, but look at the large number picks taken for OL spots in the last 6 drafts. Wow! Bust central.
The one constant is Mike Brown and his thinking process. His daughter is infected with it, as is Troy Blackburn and Tobin. Until that is gone, the team will continue to play no significant role in how the NFL playoff picture is shaped year in and year out.
Marvin was the difference in what made this team win, for awhile. Taylor is a shadow of Marv and deserves the heave-ho, just as Tobin and Mike Brown do.
