2021 Bengals Roster (Pre-season version)
#21
If Price gets cut it will not be to save money. His salary is around $2 million with a dead money hit of $1.6

Way too early roster guess.

Bold is a lock. Italics means looking good. Regular is borderline.

53 Man Roster Guess

QB = 2. Burrow; B. Allen
RB = 3. Mixon; Perine; C. Evans
WR = 6. Chase, Higgins, Boyd; Thomas, Tate, Robinson
TE = 3. Uzomah; D. Sample, Moss
OT = 4. J. Williams, Reiff; Johnson, Smith
OG = 4. Carman, Su'a-Filo; Spain, Hill (C/C)
C = 2. Hopkins; Price
---------
DE/Edge = 5. Hendrickson, Hubbard; Ossai, C. Sample, Kareem
DT = 6. Reader, Ogunjobi; Shelvin, Daniels, Tupou, Wren.
LB = 5. L. Wilson, Pratt; Davis-Gaither, J. Evans, Bailey
CB = 6. Waynes, Awuzie, Hilton; Apple, D. Phillips, Brown
S = 4. Bell, Bates; R. Allen, B. Wilson
------------
PK = 1. McPherson
P = 1. Huber
LS = 1. Harris

I know that is 26 on D and 25 on O. But I think Tupou & Wren are NFL quality players, while I don't think Jordan/Adeniji are. Nor TE#4 (Schreck) or RB#4 (T. Williams/Patrick). Kareem would be the last guy on the team.

Last year's initial 53: QB = 2, RB = 4, WR = 7, TE = 3, OT = 4, OG = 3, C = 2. DE = 4, DT = 5, LB = 6, CB = 6, S = 4. PK = 1. P = 1. LS = 1.

Practice Squad = 16

1. Morgan (WR)
2. Schreck (TE)
3. Jordan (OG)
4. Godsil (LS)
5. Adeniji (OT)
6. P. Williams (RB)
7. Hubert (Edge)
8. Chrisman (P)

9. Patrick (RB)
10. Lees (WR/PR)
11. Jones (LB)
12. Davis (CB)

13. Wells (TE) (or Wilcox)
14. Rose (CB) (or best remaining CB)
15. Pick a QB (Shurmur, Hill, Dungey)
16. Seibert (PK)
-------------

Edit: Hubert not Hodge on PS. And I keep call Shelvin Mack in my head. There is a Shelvin Mack basketball player, I believe.

$3.7 mil cal hit. Saves over $2 mil.

https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/cincinnati-bengals/cap/

Salary at $2 mil + $1.6 signing bonus (which is the dead cap number). We'd save the salary but have to pay his pro-rated signing bonus.

Salary and cap hits are not the same thing.

Edit: Of course, cap savings and actually saving money are not necessarily the same thing, either.
