I found it interesting looking at Spotrac cap numbers and how the Bengals structured the Chase contract in 2021 to be a lower cap hit in year one. Does this mean we are not done with trades or FA?
YEAR AGE BASE SALARY SIGNING CAP HIT DEAD CAP YEARLY CASH
2021 Contract details by year 21 $660,000 $4,943,571 $5,603,571 $30,819,641 $20,434,284
($20,434,284)
2022 Contract details by year 22 $2,060,893 $4,943,571 $7,004,464 $25,216,070
$2,060,893
($22,495,177)
2023 Contract details by year 23 $3,461,786 $4,943,571 $8,405,357 $18,211,606
$3,461,786
($25,956,963)
2024 Contract details by year 24 $4,862,678 $4,943,571 $9,806,249 $9,806,249
$4,862,678
($30,819,641)
SORRY TRIED TO EDIT THIS TO LOOK BETTER, BUT IN YEAR ONE THE CAP HIT IS 5.6 MILLION, YEAR 2 IS 7 MILLION, YEAR 3 IS 8.4 MILLION AND YEAR 5 IS 9.8 MILLION.
Also, looking around at other teams, there are teams with more cap space than us, but have not signed their 1st round pick. Others are in bad cap situations with little to no cap money which could create more cap casualties very soon.
We still have some holes on depth at OT, LB and I would love Etrz, I think we have the money to do more prior to start of camp and still extend #1 priority Bates and maybe Hubbard, but Bates will be the expensive extension.
Thoughts?

2024 may go on record as one of most underperforming teams in Bengal history. Bengal's FO has major work to do on defensive side of the ball. I say tag and trade Tee Higgins in 2025 to start with the rebuild.
