Pretty sure you understand my point but you're just playing dumb to avoid admitting that you're wrong.  You don't know the entire story and you're just arguing things that to sound smart and fit your preconceived notions.

My parents drilled into my head not to do anything stupid like that and I even tried to avoid doing it by asking my brother to take us but I couldn't say no to my friends.  

It's called peer pressure and it causes teens to do a lot of things they wouldn't normally do, especially back then.
