I'm going out to Vegas for when we play the Raiders out there but I'm also looking to go another weekend.
My friend's not a big gambler so we'd probably spend more time in the Sportsbook than I normally would just because I don't want him to feel bad if I'm gambling a lot and he's just watching.
What would be the most fun weekend to go and watch games? I'd like it to be away from November just because it might be tough for me to convince the tight guy controls my money to let me go twice if they're close together.
I'd love to go Wild Card Weekend but then we couldn't watch college games and plus it would probably be too crowded.
Any ideas?!

I saw somebody comment on it not long after I bought my season Tix and thought it would be pretty cool to see the Bengals and make my first trip to Vegas. $300 a pop for tickets in the nosebleeds in the corner of the stadium talked me out of it.

New Orleans is more my style better food and bar scene. I believe Bengals will play the Saints in New Orleans in 2022.

Yeah, as cool as it would be, Vegas is a two-day town, three tops, so wouldn't want to waste time at a game, especially when tickets will costs a fortune.
I've been thinking about it more and more, and I might just pick a weekend and go to a riverboat casino around here because they have sports gambling now and I'd be in a casino the entire time in Vegas, so what's the difference between here and there? (Stick around here instead of going out a second time because we already have flights and everything booked for the weekend of the Bengals game.)
Hollywood is 15 minutes away, Rising Star is 20 minutes away, and Belterra is 30 minutes, and those are all max times, so why not save a bunch of money by just staying in one of the hotels on one of those boats?

I've heard New Orleans is pretty wild, even when it's not Mardi Gras.
I might make a trip down there at some point but the only problem is most of my friends are married with full-time jobs, so they wouldn't be getting as crazy as I'd like.
I'll definitely try to make the trip down there for that game if we play there in 2022.

New Orleans is really only "wild" on Bourbon Street. Which unless you're looking to get hammered and wade through puke, piss and prostitutes in the street isn't much more than a tourist trap. New Orleans outside of Bourbon Street has the whole rest of the French Quarter (equal parts sketchy, great food and amazing music), some beautiful architecture, interesting history and some of the friendliest people in America. There's plenty to do to fill your days and nights. It's history has not always been kind, and it can be a rough city, but it's full of resilience and character.

Can anyone explain to me why someone would post about poker tournaments in this thread when it was clearly about going for a weekend to mostly gamble on football?
Even if I were going to play poker, there's a million daily tournaments out there, which anyone with any common sense would know because it's Vegas and I could easily find those, either through the casinos' websites or through one of the poker apps on my phone.
Didn't I even mention that I played in a tourney the last time I was out there, meaning that I knew how to find tournaments?
Ever wonder if some people post just to post, or if they think you're stupid, or if it's just that they think their ideas have to be so smart that anyone else couldn't possibly have thought of them?

Can anyone explain to me why someone would ask for advice and then get mad, pitch a little fit, and throw around a bunch of insults because he knows so much he obviously does not need any advice?
Anyone who gets upset by a post with nothing but a helpful link in it needs to grow up.

Please, for the love of God, STOP MAKING THIS SO EASY!
I asked for when the best time to go to Vegas would be and I SPECIFICALLY MENTIONED IT WAS TO WATCH GAMES!
Why would I care about daily poker tournaments?!
How was that helping me?
After you answer that, I have more things to point out that kill your "gets mad at my advice" comment.

Tell me right now that as much as you play poker you will not take the opportunity to sit in on a game in the gambling capitol of the world, and I know you're lying, thus Fred's post about poker opportunities was very much specific to your past times and complete NON-confrontational.
You're being an ass Brad.

I’m being an ass?!
I’ve been to Vegas how many times? I’ve lost count at this point. How many poker tournaments have I played in?! ONE.
Again, how would him posting daily tournaments give me any idea on when I should up I should go out there, especially when I SPECIFICALLY said it’s for football?
If I was going out for poker or even was going to play in, as you falsely assumed, wouldn’t I have looked up the daily tournaments on one of my apps or their website?
Furthermore, was his second post not being an ass to me? Why didn’t you call him out?

If it were me, I'd do one of two things.
1.) Since I was already making one trek to Vegas I'd probably go somewhere else for my other trip. Sportsbooks have been opening all over (I think it's legal in like 13 states now but don't quote me on that). It might be cool to check out another city with a Casino.
2.) If I still preferred Vegas over anywhere else (a lot of people do) I'd probably go for New Years. I know you said you wanted to bet NFL but New Years Day bowl games would be a blast to bet. And if you're already getting in some NFL bets in another trip it might be fun to mix it up. Plus, you'd be have college basketball and the NBA in play if you wanted some more options. I'm sure you'd have all sorts of things to do there during that time too. I gotta imagine they do a lot of cool shit for New Years.
And if you're reading this, and thinking screw that to both of these (You want Vegas and you want the NFL), I'd just book something early in the fall. I'm assuming rates for hotel and airfair are cheaper this time of year, coming off of a summer and with school starting. If you go this route, why no go for week 1, to kick off the season?

Yeah, like I said, there's a few casinos not far from here on the river with sportsbooks, so I'll probably just do that since it's not like I'll be leaving the casino at all.
Between the flights and rooms, it would save a few thousand dollars, so it makes even more sense to just do that.

Yeah, that would be a blast, but I don't follow NBA or college enough in that way to bet it. I'm just more of a casual fan. I did bet the game 3 of the NBA Finals (and won) because my friend, who's a degenerate gambler (he's one of the 4 that I'm going with for the Bengals weekend), put $2,000 on it, so I felt pretty confident betting (not nearly as much, obviously).
Also, New Year's would probably be PACKED, which would be an obvious problem for me.

I might do that because I'm in a poker group on Facebook and they're having a group meet-up out there from something like 10th to the 13th. The problem with that is that they'll just be playing poker a lot, which I don't really want to go to Vegas for poker and I also don't know if I'll have presentations scheduled that Friday or Monday and I just don't want to miss any opportunities because they all mean so much to me, especially since I've had so few since Covid.
I also don't want to be out there on the anniversary of the wreck (9/18), so I might have to just bite the bullet and go out on opening weekend and try and schedule presentations around it. They said I don't have to play poker if I don't want to because it's more to get the group together (players from all over and I only know a few in person), but sportsbooks might also be packed on opening weekend.
Thanks for the advice!

Best time to be in Vegas? Never..But hey...to each their own. I'm going to DC and NY next week just to ride the train and relax..
