With batting numbers down some fans don't appreciate how good our hitting is
#1
Reds are #1 in the NL in OPS (slugging percentage plus on-base percentage).
2nd in runs scored (behind Dodgers)
2nd in batting average (behind Nationals)
2nd in slugging percentage (behind Giants)
3rd in home runs and on-base percentage.

Individually Reds have three of the top 7 in the NL in OPS.  #3 Winker (.954), #5 Votto (.951), #7 Castellanos (.940).

There are only 31 NL players with an OPS over .800 and the Reds have 5 of them.  The three above plus #21 India (.848) and #29 Naquin (.816).

Those 5 players are all on pace to hit over 20 HRs.  Suarez already has over 20.  In addition to having 6 players with 20+ HRs the Reds are also on pace to have more than 20 HRs hit by our catchers.  That means we are getting 20+ HRs from every position except SS.

It's been quite a turnaround from last year.

Just imagine how great the Reds offense would be if they had gotten the SS in the offseason that everyone knew they needed, and benched Suarez when it was clear it wasn't just a little slump rather than continuing to trot him out there.

Reds SS Are:
10th in the NL in OPS
10th in runs scored
8th in batting average
11th in OBP
10th in SLG

Reds 3B Are:
15th in the NL in OPS
9th in runs scored
15th in batting average (.051 behind 14th)
15th in OBP
14th in SLG

(CF is pretty rough, too.)
