Ravens vs. Raiders - slopfest
#1
That was a SLOPPY game. Both QBs looked like crud and ultimately the Raiders won because Lamar Jackson fumbled in OT - making him by a tiny sliver the cruddier of the two. I know the first game nowadays tends to be sloppy but really? In a way I have to wonder more about the Ravens here because the Raiders defense is not that good and their offense is at best questionable yet they scored 33 points.

Now the Ravens get to face the Chiefs - have fun!

The touchdown that wasn't and players acting like the game was over in overtime was nuts! Players hugging and shaking hands and they reverse it down at the 1.. Carr throws a pick after a false start sets them back to the 5.lamar has no oline. That's gonna be trouble for them a a big reason the rat birds lost...

Damn, tough loss. Defense has to be able to hold onto a win with 37 seconds left when the other guys have no TO's. No excuses there. No silver lining on the defensive side at all. Loss lays at their feet.

Lamar looked more accurate and Watkins and Brown seemed ready to improve on our issues at WR fro last season, but Lamar needs to stop diving for extra yards (first fumble) and Williams looked good in his first ever game but he needs to get better on his blocking (2nd fumble). Mark Andrews is a shell of what he used to be. Can't drop easy first downs. Jury is out on Lat Murray. He was running stiff at first (missing holes) but seemed to get better as the night went on.

The o line was atrocious and Villanueva needs out of here ASAP. He was a joke last night.

Big L next week to start 0-2. Maybe they'll get their shit together after that, but who knows. This should have been a W to start the season off, especially when your offense puts up 27 on the road and you were never once trailing.

I thought Derek Carr looked fantastic. No not every throw was in the money but that Ravens defense his hard to read and contend with because of all the shit they throw at you on the Line of Scrimage. He had it blocked up fairly well. Also Marlon Humphrey might be the best defensive back in football.

Hopefully Joey B handles that well when the Bengals take on that Ravens defense.

Yeah he’s gotta still be having nightmares about last year. It took them about a tenth of a second longer to get in his face than if there had been no line at all.

To me they both looked terrible. Carr got a bit better later on but a lot of their late game stuff we hitting on bombs which usually means defensive secondary breakdown. Jackson likewise did not look good and still has no touch on his passes - it is all one speed. The Watkins bomb was clearly a blown coverage by the Raiders as it seemed like there was supposed to be safety help.

If either Jackson learns touch passing or the Ravens finally see they need a QB who is a passer first and a runner second then the Ravens will be a real win it all contender.
