There use to be a Wild Card Week years ago of all or mostly Wild Card Teams. However now with only two bye week teams and 6 Division Winners and 6 Wild Card Teams, it is not fair to the 6 Division Winners to still call it Wild Card Week.
The NFL should look to the NCAA Basketball. They call it simply Round One. As team #1 plays team 16. Team #8 plays team #9. Now in NFL team #2 plays team #7. Team #4 plays ream #5.
It is stupid to still call it Wild Card week when there are 6 of the 8 Division Winners in it. They are NOT Wild Card Teams.
I also have long not agreed with NFL play-off stats. The NFL up to 1970 was NOT the NFC. Up until 1965, The NFL Championship was The Super Bowl. Do not take away from the 1940s Bears, the 1950s Browns and Lions, the 1960's Packers and all other NFL Champions before 1966. I would add that until the AFL won a game, the real Super Bowl was Dallas vs Packers in both 1966 and 1967. The AFL had no respect until Joe Namath Jets upset of Baltimore Colts in 1968. The AFL Chiefs won in 1969. Then all teams became The NFL. So there are only 2 AFL teams that ever won the Super Bowl. All others from 1920's to now were NFL Teams winning the NFL Championship. So the record books on stats are wrong. There was no NFC or AFC before 1970. The NFL was the NFL. The NFC and AFC in 1970 was all NFL. Paul Brown did NOT win the NFC Trophy, he won the NFL Trophy which was The Super Bowl back then. The 1966 Chiefs or 1967 Raiders were not as good as the 1966 or 1967 Dallas Cowboys or Green Bay Packers. The Super Bowl records should include all NFL Championships except 1968 and 1969. The beating the 1940's Bears gave Washington should be in Super Bowl records, not NFC records, there was no NFC in 1940's.
The NFL can be wrong. They are wrong on this AFC and NFC crap before 1966, because it didn't exist. They are wrong to call this Wild Card Week still, when 6 of the 8 Division Winners are in it. The NFL makes mistakes. This is no Wild Card Week. With 6 of the 8 Division Winners in it, CALL IT WHAT NCAA BASKETBALL WOULD. ROUND ONE OF THE PLAY-OFFS. To call it Wild Card Week is disrespect to the 6 Division Winners, just as NFL disrespects all NFL Champions before 1966.
The Chiefs, Bills, Bengals, Buccaneers, Rams, Cowboys are NOT wild card teams. They are Division Winners. They backed into nothing.
